What Is the CAT Exam & Why Are MBA Candidates Taking It?
What is CAT?
The Common Admission Test (CAT) is a national level management aptitude test that a candidate must pass in order to be admitted to the MBA programmes offered by 20 IIMs more than 1,200 B-schools in India. CAT test is held in computer-based format for two hours. MCQs and non-MCQs from Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR), and Quantitative Ability make up the CAT question paper (QA). This exam was developed by the Indian Institutes of Management, who utilize it to select candidates for their business administration degrees (MBA or PGDM).

Eligibility for CAT Examination:
A candidate must have Graduation with 50 % aggregate (45 % for SC/ST students). Candidates in their last year of graduation may also register for the CAT. Also, there is no age limit for taking the exam. Additionally, candidates in the reserved category can take advantage of the reservation policy when filling out the online application form. A proper CAT applicant must have general aptitude, analytical ability, and problem-solving capabilities, which are all required of the manager.

The CAT exam is separated into three sections: VARC, DILR, and QA. Candidates must answer both MCQ and non-MCQ type questions.

CAT Exam Time Slot:
1. Morning slot: 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM.
2. Afternoon slot: 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM.
3. Evening slot: 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM
CAT Reservation Criteria:
Except for a 5% relaxation in graduation marks for SC/ST/PwD students, there are no reservation conditions for the CAT test.
The IIMs, on the other hand, adhere to reservation standards established by the Government of India
